A Message from Earnie’s Family
We know that Earnest was a special person, by the out pouring of love and support that has been shown and continues to be shown to his family. Our hearts are full. Words truly cannot express how forever grateful and apreciative we are for the comforting messages, prayers, your presence, cards, floral tributes, monetary blessing and the many other expressions of kindness and concern shown to our family during this season. Please know that we plan on reaching out in a more personal manner at a later date. May Earnie’s smile and memories stay in your hearts forever. DeLeon-Torres, Alicia (1979)

Name when attended Mira Mesa High School: Alicia T De Leon

My mom said, “don’t go into non-profit.”

I went into non-profit. Thirty-plus years later I’m an experienced non-profit executive, successful grants manager, community and corporate storyteller, and human octopus.

When I graduated from MMHS, I thought that would be the last of my journalism/writing career. Luckily, I’ve fallen onto wonderful journalism/creative writing opportunities through freelancing, journalism fellowships, writing plays (both produced), and other “fun stuff.” Currently, I’m on the San Diego Union-Tribune Community Advisory Board with some pretty awesome people.

On a more serious note, I’ve had the privilege of serving on the City of San Diego’s Gang Prevention and Intervention Commission (District 5 before it turned into District 6 – so yes, Mira Mesa was part of my area), and the State of California Attorney General’s Civil Rights Commission on Hate Crimes.

For fun, I travel with family or friends when I can. At home, I’m a bit boring: read, write, garden, feed the birds and pet puppies. Other than that, I’m a mom, wife, sister, auntie, cousin, friend, colleague, confidant, Marauder and Aztec for life, and perpetual dreamer. ← These are my favorite life roles.

Lastly, many of you remember me as a sorta’ quiet and geekish person for most of my high school years. I’m still a geek. I still tend to gravitate towards small to medium groups rather than crowds; you learn more from each other. Personally, I’m an introvert. Professionally, I’m an extrovert. Why? Quiet people tend to freak people out. Ha ha! No. Really.

Hancock, Kevin (1986)

I am still bleeding BLUE & GOLD! After being drafted by the Houston Astros right out of high school in 1986, I went to Sarasota Florida where I played one season of baseball. I came back home and got a part-time seasonal job at UPS… and worked there for almost 31 years! I retired from UPS in early 2017 and transitioned into real estate as a professional Realtor®. Being in the real estate business has allowed me to give my time and money back to this wonderful community that I love by networking with the Alumni Association.

As a professional Realtor® specializing in Mira Mesa, Scripps Ranch, Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Penasquitos, Escondido, San Marcos, and UTC, I provide my clients with the 5-Star service that they deserve. Please let me know if there is anything in the world that I can do for you!
